The African Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) visited ACCORD from 27 – 28 January 2010 to renew and strengthen the relationship and collaboration that exists between the two entities. During the visit ACCORD and AMISOM had the opportunity to, among other things, discuss issues relating to ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Programme’s continued support to the mission.

In their opening statements, Mr Jerome Sachane, Deputy Director of ACCORD and Mrs Karishma Rajoo, Manager of ACCORD’s Interventions Department, reiterated that as an African institution working in the field of conflict management and resolution on the continent, ACCORD is willing to support AMISOM in their endeavours to achieve peace in Somalia, and to support the African Union in its endeavours to ensure peace, security and stability on the continent.

The meeting provided an opportunity for ACCORD and AMISOM to confirm the modalities of support and collaboration and facilitated a renewed relationship and partnership for continued collaboration between the two institutions.

AMISOM was represented by:

  • Mr James Gadin - Political Officer
