ACCORD Trustee Madam Graça Machel was elected as the Chair of ACCORD’s Board of Trustees at ACCORD’s Trustees Meeting that was held on 3 December 2008. Madam Machel took over the Chair from H.E. Ambassador Sibusiso Bengu.
On 03 July 2008 ACCORD hosted its first Board of Trustees Meeting for 2008. The second Board meeting will be held in December 2008.
On Friday, 15 August 2008, H.E. Ambassador Billy Modise, was awarded the Premier’s Excellence Award by the Premier of the Free State for his contribution towards the liberation struggle and South Africa in general.

On 31 August 207 ACCORD hosted its second Trustees’ EXCOM Meeting at ACCORD House for 2007. ACCORD hosts two EXCOM meetings a year.

At its General Council Meeting on Tuesday 28 May 2008, Professor Wiseman Nkuhlu from South Africa was unanimously elected President of the IOE for a two year term.
ACCORD Trustee Graça Machel was awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Barcelona, Spain, yesterday. Graça Machel is the chairperson of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI). Presenting the Award at an official ceremony, the Chancellor of the University stated that Graça Machel represents “justice, freedom and democracy.
On 8 May ACCORD hosted its inaugural trustees’ EXCOM Meeting at ACCORD House. At the ACCORD Board of Trustees Meeting held on 30 November 2006, the Board approved the creation of the EXCOM, which will meet twice a year.
