Within the framework of its partnership with the Department of Peace and Conflict Research (DPCR) at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, twice a year ACCORD co-organizes international Top-Level Seminars on Peace and Security (TOPS). Under the theme ‘Challenges to Durable Peace’, the second TOPS seminar for 2008 was held in Uppsala from 25 November until 5 December 2008.
ACCORD was represented by Angela Ndinga-Muvumba, Manager of Knowledge Production, and Tor Sellstrom, Senior Advisor, who made a joint presentation on ‘ACCORD’s Approach to Conflict Analysis and Interventions’.
Lectures were also given by inter alia Peter Wallensteen and Thomas Ohlson, Professors at DPCR, and Jan Eliasson, former Swedish Foreign Minister, ex-President of the UN General Assembly and Visiting DPCR Professor. Among the participants at the prestigious seminar was Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
The first TOPS seminar for 2009 is scheduled for 5 -16 May 2009.
