ACCORD supports pre-deployment Training for Malawi Armed Forces

National Peace Support Operations Officers of the Malawi Armed Forces listen attentively to an ACCORD presentation on Negotiation and Mediation during a ten-day pre-deployment training programme in Salima, Malawi.

 ACCORD Senior Training Officer, Ms Kemi Ogunsanya and the Peacekeeping Unit Programme Officer, Mr Lamii Moivi Kromah, were invited by the British Peace Support Team (BPST) to deliver the presentations on Civil Military Coordination from 22 – 23 Februrary 2010.

The staff officers undertake regular pre-deployment training and this officer’s course covered various aspects of peace support operations. Kemi and Lamii presented on just a few crucial topics, namely Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) in UN and African Union (AU) Peace Support Operations (PSO) and Negotiation & Mediation in peace support operations.
