ACCORD Trustee appointed as trustee of International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation

ACCORD Trustee, Professor Wiseman Nkuhlu, has been appointed as a Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation for a three year period starting on 1 January 2013.

The IFRS Foundation is based in the United Kingdom. The Trustees are responsible for providing oversight of the operations of the IFRS Foundation and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). They are also responsible for appointment of members of the IASB and overseeing and monitoring the effectiveness of the IASB and its adherence to is due process and consultation processes. The members of the IASB are directly responsible for development and promotion of the International Financial Reporting Standards which are now the global accounting standards used or permitted in most developed and emerging economies.

Professor Nkuhlu is one of the Founding Trustees of ACCORD and is currently the Chair of ACCORD’s Executive Committee (EXCOM) of the Board. The Chair of ACCORD’s Board of Trustees is Madame Graca Machel.
