ACCORD’s Executive Director and Founder, Advocate Vasu Gounden, speaks at MINDS High Level Dialogue

Vasu Gounden speaks at High Level Dialogue exploring approaches that can be taken to ensure African countries have the capacity to meet their food needs.

On 6 February 2018 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Adv. Vasu Gounden was invited to be a resource person at a High Level Dialogue by the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) in Gaborone, Botswana. The focus of the meeting was on improving agricultural productivity in Africa through mechanisation and the use of fertiliser. Adv. Gounden was invited to speak on the impact of current conflict and peace trends in Africa on the continent, the economy and well-being of the citizens of Africa.

The High Level Dialogue covered topics including; Improving agricultural productivity through mechanization and the use of fertiiser, the state of financing in agricultural chains in Africa, how to enable policies for multi-national cooperation in developing agricultural value chains, and what actions can be taken by key constituencies to ensure African countries have the capacity to meet their food needs.
