Conflict Management Training for Civil Society Women Leaders in Burundi

ACCORD’s Burundi Intervention held a conflict management training for women civil society leaders in Burundi from 18-20 February 2008 at the Sun Safari Hotel in Bujumbura, Burundi. This training was facilitated by Kemi Ogunsanya, ACCORD trainer and gender specialist, and Adelin Hatungimana, Senior Progamme Officer at the Burundi Office.

The training was officially opened by Mrs. Cathérine Nyenama, the Director of the Department of Gender Equality, Government of Burundi.

The training aimed to impart specific conflict management skills such as conflict analysis, communication and negotiation that will assist Burundian women to identify disputes, assess the situation and design appropriate responses before disputes develop into violent conflict. This training was organised following various requests from women civil society organisations in Burundi.
