Mr. Karanja Mbugua, a Senior Researcher in the Research Unit at ACCORD, will facilitate and participate in an executive course in management of multinational peace missions from 13-17 November in Gaborone, Botswana. The course is arranged by the Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Botswana.

CSS forms part of the Southern African Defence and Security Management (SADSEM) Network which is aimed at training senior military and police offices, government officials and members of civil society and non-governmental organisations, who are involved or may potentially get involved in planning for peace missions in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region.

At the course, Mr. Mbugua will present a paper on “The Burundi Peace Process” as a case study on managing multinational peace missions in the Great Lakes Region.

The peace mission programme is funded by the Danish International Development Aid (DANIDA).
