Other information

Melody joined ACCORD in June 2011 as Intern for the Peacemaking unit. Her responsibilities include assisting the Peacemaking Unit with tracking, monitoring and analysing conflict situations in Africa; technical and logistical preparations for upcoming events in the Unit, assisting with the setting up and managing of a mediation network as well as conducting various research activities.

Melody is passionate about Africa,  and is saddened that the continent (one that is so rich in resources) still lags behind on the political and economic ladder and struggles to compete in the international community as a result of conflict and violence.  Melody, thus joined ACCORD as she sees the Institution as one that is striving towards the goal of security and peace in Africa through various initiatives that are particularly of interest to her (mediation, training, research and conflict analysis). Melody looks forward to making a meaningful contribution to the work ACCORD does in Africa.

Melody has a Master of Arts (Cum Laude) Degree in Political Science from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (2011). She is currently working on her Doctoral degree proposal. Melody's research interests lie within the areas of human security, migration, conflict management and resource allocation.
