J Pascal da Rocha joined ACCORD in January 2011 as the Coordinator for the Training Unit. In this role, he leads and implements the various activities pertaining to training activities in the field of mediation and conflict resolution on the African Continent. In addition, his intent is to move ACCORD from being a Center of Excellence to a Center of Influence by providing mission-tailored and top-notch mediation and conflict resolution training to a multitude of clients across the African continent, to partner and exchange with networks and institutions in Africa and beyond, and to ensure that services are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner. Some of the activities include the design, development, implementation, and measurement of training curricula, as well as cross-cutting services for Peacemaking, Peacekeeping, Peacebuilding, and other consultancy services.

Pascal has 15 years+ of mediation and negotiation experience in volatile and non-permissive crisis zones (in Africa, Middle- and Far East, Southeastern and Central Europe, Central Asia). He has worked for a variety of clients, including the United Nations, NATO, the OSCE, other Regional Security Agencies, Fortune 500 and Multinational companies. His expertise is in Conflict Management Systems, Gender and Diversity, Management and Leadership, Cultural Awareness, Communication, and Extractive Industries. He has published on Gender and Diversity (Edward Elgar Press, 2009), and books on Crisis Management, Leadership, Conflict Management, and Natural Resources are forthcoming. Apart from his practice in the field of international negotiation, he has taught a M.Sc. Program in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University and on International Dispute Resolution at the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in New York City. He runs workshops, trainings, and seminars at several other institutions around the world, such as the Southern Federal University in Rostov, Russia, the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK, the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at the Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany, and the Kazakh University of Law and Humanities, Astana, Kazakshtan. He is a certified mediator with 250+ hours of training, NLP, train-the-trainer programs, and is proficient in conducting hybrid, distance learning, online, and face-to-face courses.

Pascal holds degrees from various disciplines (PhD, JD, MA's), is curious, loves food and movies, travel, scuba diving, and running, and speaks English, German and French fluently.
