Natacha Kunama

Natacha Kunama is the Coordinator of the Peacemaking Unit. In this capacity, Natacha leads the operational and strategic design and planning of the Unit programs and oversees the implementation of all peacemaking initiatives at ACCORD. The Peacemaking unit goal is to prevent the occurrence of violent conflict and to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts on the African continent.

Prior to joining ACCORD, Natacha contributed to enhance police capacity in Africa to participate to peace operations through several capacity building projects with the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre in Ottawa, Canada. Natacha also worked with the United Nations Integrated Office in Burundi (BINUB) as the national lead for the disarmament of civilian and fight against the proliferation of small arms. She contributed to the development of a Joint UN- Burundi partnership programme on Security Sector Reform.

Natacha studied at Uganda Martyrs University (Bachelor in Development Studies) and pursued a Master's Degree in International Relations at the United States International University, based in Nairobi, Kenya. She also holds a Certificate in Project Management from Villanova University.

She is interested in issues of peace and security on the African continent and more particularly the promotion of a gender responsive agenda for the prevention of conflict in Africa.
