“The CNDD-FDD deeply expresses its acknowledgement for the precious training ACCORD provided its political and military leaders. The training we received considerably contributed to the understanding of various issues that maybe wouldn’t have been tackled that smoothly during [the] last negotiations

round with the Transitional Government of Burundi. With the ceasefire agreement between the Transitional Government and CNDD-FDD, [the] Burundi people can say that better days are coming, but we are all aware that lasting peace cannot be ordered. Peace needs to be built and consolidated. That is why we consider that it is the beginning of hard work. We therefore request to continue the training programme, and ask for its extension to other senior members of our Movement and to the CND-FDD Women’s League.”

Hussein Radjabu, Secretary General of CNDD-FDD (2003)
