ACCORD hosts Governor of Khartoum

On 22 April 2013 ACCORD hosted the Governor of Khartoum, H.E. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Khidr, from the Republic of Sudan, along with a delegation of ten senior officials, which included advisors and heads of the Strategic Projects Unit and Investment Authority for Khartoum State.  While in South Africa the delegation met with senior city officials in Gauteng (Johannesburg) and eThekwini (Durban) Municipalities.

The Governor visited ACCORD to share with ACCORD the current situation in Khartoum and relations with the Republic of South Sudan, as well as to continue to explore areas of cooperation. In 2010 ACCORD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of (North) Sudan and in 2011 signed a similar MoU with the Government of (South) Sudan. In 2012 ACCORD hosted the Foreign Minister from the Republic of Sudan, H.E. Ali Ahmed Karti at ACCORD House, as well as the Minister of Interior from the Republic of Sudan, H.E. Ambassador Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid.

In 2012 ACCORD opened an office in Juba, the Republic of South Sudan, and plans to open an office in Khartoum, the Republic of Sudan, in due course.
