ACCORD supports the peace process in Mozambique

Helping the Government of Mozambique work towards achieving its post-agreement priorities.

On 18 Septeber 2019, The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) Consulted with Her Excellancy Madame Graça Machel, The Foundation for Community Development (FDC) and the European Union Delegation in Maputo, Mozambique in support of the the Demobilization, Disarmament, Reintegration (DDR) and Reconciliation Process. This process forms part of the Government of Mozambique’s post-agreement priorities to stimulate the economic and social reintegration of former combatants through the identification and implementation of programs and projects that will contribute to the objective of socio-economic stabilisation and peace in Mozambique.

This assignment will be implemented in two phases beginning in September 2019 and the purpose of this assignment is to assist the EU and the National Authorising Officer (NAO) in the identification and formulation of a support programme to the consolidation of the peace process through supporting the implementation of the DDR and Reconciliation process. At this critical juncture, this study has the potential to bolster the gains that have been made in recent months and help the Government of Mozambique work towards achieving its post-agreement priorities.
