Southern Africa: Women and Girls Main Victims of Domestic and Gender Violence – SADC Secretariat

This article reports on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) statement relating to the rise of domestic violence and gender violence in Southern Africa due to lockdown measures implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.

As part of the statement, HE Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax stresses that individual governments should find ways to provide “flexible and innovative tools for reporting,” as well as counselling after the pandemic is over.
