Yvan Yenda Ilunga

Yvan Yenda Ilunga is an Assistant Professor of Political Science & International Relations and Associate Director of the MA International Relations programme at Salve Regina University. He is the Deputy Director of the Joint Civil-Military Interaction Research & Education Network. His research focuses on humanitarian action, peace operations, civil-military interactions, and governance in fragile and conflict-affected states, with a particular emphasis on the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region of Africa. He holds a PhD in Global Affairs from Rutgers University. He has consulted for the African Union, the United Nations, and national governments.  He is the author of Humanitarianism and Security: Trouble and Hope at the Heart of Africa (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020) and has co-authored and contributed to multiple books, reports, and policy briefs on peace operations and security governance.
