Sharing experiences and lessons learned to promote and strengthen mediation practices

ACCORD participated online in the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Mediation Support Network (MSN), held from 29 to 31 October 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The meeting focused on Multi-level Mediation in Theory and Practice within today’s Conflict Context.

The MSN is a global Network of non-governmental organisations that support peace processes, with a specific focus on mediation. The Network meets annually to exchange experiences, share lessons learned, and explore collaborative approaches to enhancing mediation practices. The meeting was jointly hosted by the MSN Secretariat, Swisspeace, the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), and the Centre for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich.

The hybrid session that ACCORD participated in focused on multi-level mediation by reflecting on Colombia as a case study, with discussions unpacking the various initiatives that took place as part of the peace process. It was an opportunity to better understand the challenges and achievements of such a process. The internal meeting, also held online, enabled members to reflect on membership and other modalities to increase the impact of the network.

ACCORD remains engaged with the network to ensure that African experiences and lessons contribute to a global discourse on mediation practices.
