ACCORD conducts capacity building workshop for senior advisors and officials from the CAR’s Social and Economic Council in Bangui

Workshop covering the symbiotic relationship between poverty and conflict/development and peace.

ACCORD was invited to participate at the Central African Republic’s (CAR) Social and Economic Council (SEC) launch of their programme with the goal of “nurturing an appropriate development model for CAR”. The ceremony was officiated by HE the President of the Republic, Prof Faustin-Archange Touadéra.

The SEC is one of the six institutions established under CAR’s 2016 Constitution. After the ceremony, ACCORD, as a key capacity-building partner to the Government of CAR, conducted a two-day workshop for senior advisors and officials of the SEC. The workshop covered modules of conflict analysis, mediation and conflict resolution techniques, demonstrated the symbiotic relationship between poverty and conflict/development and peace, and the content and challenges associated with the implementation of the 2019 Political Accord for Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in CAR (APPR-CAR).

The workshop was conducted that the SCE headquarters in Bangui on 21-22 August 2019. ACCORD implemented this activity in partnership and through funding from the European Union (EU) as part of an 18-month programme with the overall objective to provide support to increase and strengthen the capacity of the CAR Government, Regional Inter-governmental organisations and Local and National stakeholders engaged in the peace negotiations and peace agreement implementation.
