ACCORD conducts Conflict Management training for UNMIS

ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Programme conducted an in-mission Conflict Management for Peacekeepers and Peacebuilders Course for the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) in Khartoum from 28 – 30 June 2010. The course included both national and international staff from the three components of the mission – civilian, police, and military.

The course was aimed at equipping peacekeepers with the requisite skills to assist them build and consolidate more positive relationships with host communities and contribute to improved relations on the ground amongst all stakeholders in the multi-dimensional peacekeeping environment. The training enhanced the skills and capacity of the participants in conflict management, communication, negotiation and mediation and the promoted the institutionalisation of conflict management as a non-violent method of dealing with conflict.
