ACCORD/TfP participated in the 14th Annual Meeting of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group

The 14th annual meeting of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group (IDDRTG) was held from 11-13 June 2018 at the Ecole de Maintien de la Paix Alioune Blondin BEYE (EMPABB) in Bamako, Mali. The meeting was attended by members, partners and stakeholders in Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR).

The IDDRTG, a group of international organizations and training institutions, was established with the common intention of developing and sharing training materials based on the United Nations Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Standards (UN IDDRS).

The participants called for an increased strengthened collaboration between the IDDRTG and the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG); it looked at the past and upcoming activities of the group in the area of DDR, explored opportunities for cooperation between the IDDRTG and the IAWG to assist in the current IDDRS review and the DDR policies and guidelines. ACCORD as a participant, also examined the challenges to implement DDR programmes and DDR researches’ recommendations, training courses and materials. The meeting further provided an opportunity for the exchange of best practices, lessons learned between the training centre of excellences and the need for researches that would address emerging issues in the DDR domain. ACCORD was able to discuss and elaborate on the DDR research it conducted in 2017 and informed its partners about the current field research it is conducting in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
