ACCORD to assist with exercise scenarios for African Standby Force

ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Programme Senior Programme Officer, Yvonne Kasumba, will be participating in a Scenario Development Meeting from 4-5 February in Nairobi, Kenya. The need to develop a common exercise scenario was recognised at an African Standby Force (ASF) Training Implementation Workshop held from 29-31 October 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The purpose of the meeting will be to begin development of a common scenario for use during exercises undertaken at the Strategic (African Union, AU) and Operational (Regional Economic Commission, RECs) levels. The scenario will be based on an existing United Nations (UN)/African Union (AU) scenario, CARANA, and aims to be robust enough to facilitate integrated mission planning for multidimensional peace operations. The meeting will be hosted by the International Peace Support Training Center (IPCS) in Nairobi.
