His Excellency, Ambassador Gilberto Da Piedade VERISSIMO, President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) is a Doctor (Ph.D.) in Social Sciences (Strategic Studies) for the Higher Institute of Social Sciences and Politics of the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has held many positions, namely:
- Deputy Executive Secretary for Political Affairs of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (CGG);
- Consultant to the Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola;
- Representative of Angola on the CGG Committee of Experts;
- General Officer of the Angolan Armed Forces;
- Professor at Agostinho Neto University (Faculty of Social Sciences);
- Professor at the Angolan Armed Forces Superior School of War;
- Visiting professor at the University of Lisbon (ISCSP).
Ambassador GILBERTO DA PIEDADE VERÍSSIMO has several publications to his credit, namely:
