Ambassador Sébastien Ntahuga

Head of Mission

Ambassador Sébastien Ntahuga worked with ACCORD for many years, back to the peace process in his home country of Burundi where he helped lead the negation and implementation of the Arusha Peace Accord. Ambassador Ntahuga holds a Master’s Degree in International Organizations Law from Pantheon Sorbonne in Paris, France. Ambassador Ntahuga has a distinguished carrier in Burundi where he served as a Magistrate at courts and tribunals, the Minister of Justice, and the Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the Republic. He has also had a long diplomatic career as the Ambassador of Burundi in Germany covering the Holy See and Scandinavian countries.

Ambassador Ntahuga has also applied his wealth of experience and knowledge at the African Union and its Regional Economic Communities in service of peace and security in Africa. Among other renowned positions, he was a trainer of AU field diplomats and electoral observers, RECs and NGO staff, and South Sudan’s Official Negotiators. Ambassador Ntahuga was also an evaluator of the African Peace and Security Architecture; and the Director of Political Affairs and Early Warning Mechanism at Economic Community for Central African States (ECCAS).

In 2017, Ambassador Ntahuga, as an ACCORD expert, was appointed as a Senior Advisor to the CAR Presidency and Government to expedite the peace process. Since then, ACCORD was able to expand its operations in CAR with funding from the European Union and from 2018 Ambassador Ntahuga was ACCORD’s Head of Mission based in Bangui.
