Charity Mawire

PhD Candidate within the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS)

Charity Mawire is a PhD Candidate within the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand. She has a multi-disciplinary background spanning across the disciplines of Economics, Development studies and Migration and Displacement. She holds a Master of Social Science degree in Development Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and a Honours degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. She has also worked as a Research Assistant at Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe (LEDRIZ), a research Think-tank of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions where her work involved undertaking research on trade unions, social development, social contract issues and labour-related matters in Zimbabwe. During her studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, she also worked as a Teaching Assistant and Student Assistant in academic research related modules within the College of Humanities (CHUM) and College of Law and Management Studies (CLMS).

Charity Mawire’s research interests include international migration, integration of migrants, social cohesion and belonging in host nations.
