Dr. Chika Charles Aniekwe

Senior Advisor and Head of Stabilization for the UNDP/LCBC Lake Chad Basin Regional Stabilization Strategy

Chika Charles Aniekwe, PhD, is a senior leader in governance, peace, stabilisation, and development. He has over 20 years of experience, including 12 years in multilateral systems across various countries and contexts, in senior advisory roles in Ethiopia, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Somalia, and the Lake Chad Basin region, where he led the UNDP Lake Chad Basin regional stabilisation programme to great success. He has also served with the African Union Commission, and over the years, has contributed to shaping democratic governance reforms, conflict prevention, and regional strategies.

Dr. Aniekwe holds a PhD and MA (Distinction) in International Development from the University of Bradford, UK, and a BSc in Political Science from Enugu State University. He is a Visiting Fellow at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School. He has published on democracy, governance, and security, including articles in the Journal of International Peacekeeping and the Journal of African Law.
