Dr. Fiifi Edu-Afful is a Senior Researcher at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), where he leads the Preventing Armed Conflict and Armed Violence (PACAV) pillar. A distinguished scholar-practitioner, he has held appointments as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar-in-Residence at American University’s School of International Service and the University of Maryland’s Department of Government and Politics. He previously served as Senior Research Fellow at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), and is a Global Fellow of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) as well as a 2013 CODESRIA Laureate. His research and policy work focuses on UN peace operations, terrorism and violent extremism, conflict prevention, conventional arms, youth and armed conflict and conflict-related sexual violence.
