Geraldine J. Fraser-Moleketi

Chancellor to the Nelson Mandela University

Geraldine J. Fraser-Moleketi served as Member of the South African Parliament for three consecutive parliaments (1994-2008). She served in the South African Government as Deputy Minister of Welfare and Population Development, thereafter as Minister for Welfare and Population Development. Subsequently, she was appointed as Minister of Public Service and Administration, for two consecutive terms. Fraser-Moleketi is the former Global Director of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Democratic Governance Group (DGP); and she worked with the African Development Bank (AfDB) as Special Envoy on Gender (SEOG). Fraser-Moleketi, serves on various boards across academia, including as the Chancellor to the Nelson Mandela University, Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA); Chairperson (2018-2021) of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA), established by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
