Katlego Mphahlele

Former 2020 SRC President of Rhodes University

Katlego Mphahlele “Mokgaga”, the former 2020 SRC President of Rhodes University was born in Limpopo in a village called Ga-Mphahlele. She graduated with a bachelor degree in pharmacy from Rhodes University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Pharmaceutical chemistry. She has held many leadership positions throughout her time at Rhodes; such as being a faculty representative, an SRC sports & societies councillor and currently the vice-chairperson of USSA Eastern Cape basketball committee. She is the recipient of two prestigious awards which are the Rhodes Investec top 100 awards for leadership and sports. Last year she received a special excellence award from the university in recognition of her exemplary citizenship and leadership in the Makhanda community. In 2020 she also featured as a content provider in the Rhodes Music Radio (RMR) station for a health segment show that sought to promote public health. Katlego is a 2021 FISU ambassador for South Africa and is currently the National Youth Advisory Council member of ActionSA. She is a humanitarian with a passion for serving her country and she believes in humility, peace and unity.
