ACCORD is participating in the 2006 ‘Peacekeeping, Reconstruction and Stability Operations in Africa’ conference taking place in Midrand, South Africa from 28-31 March. Cedric de Coning, Research Fellow at ACCORD, is making a presentation on ‘Incorporating Civil Military Coordination into Reconstruction Operations’ on Tuesday 28 March, and he is facilitating a workshop on 31 March entitled ‘Analysing Civil-Military Coordination As A Critical Success Factor In Complex Peace Operations.’

The conference is hosted by International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC) [www.iqpc.co.za], and they have successfully produced a number of military and defence related conferences across the world. This conference will bring together parliamentarians from European, African and North American countries, representatives of governments, and the military from all three continents and international and non-governmental organisations. The conference provides an opportunity for detailed discussion of past and present peacekeeping operations in Africa.
