The two-day Workshop informed the development of a UN strategic framework for protection strategies by UN field missions. The Workshop generated lessons learned from key military and police field commanders as well as civilian mission and humanitarian personnel involved in issues related to the protection of civilians. It further contributed towards specifying the required guidance to ensure the successful implementation of mandates on the protection of civilians in UN field missions.
