Civil Society-UN Prevention Platform Engages in a Planning Session

Strengthening collaboration between civil society and multilateral organisations for effective conflict prevention efforts

ACCORD, as a core member of the Civil Society-UN Prevention Platform met with partners virtually on 03 May 2022 to engage in a dialogue towards finalising the 2022 Strategic Plan and to identify areas for joint planning and involvement as they work towards conflict prevention efforts.

The Civil Society-UN Prevention Platform aims to support the UN’s prevention agenda through strengthening coordination and information sharing between civil society organizations (CSOs) and the UN at all levels, through close collaboration with the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). The Platform seeks to identify concrete, practical steps to enhance the UN and CSOs’ collective capacity to carry out preventive work, through sharing examples of best practices, identifying areas of potential collaboration and supporting UN efforts to bridge early warning and early action.

The draft strategic 2022 plan was presented and shared with key objectives of the platform. An activity plan was also presented and partners where able to identify thematic areas to support and engage in. ACCORD remains committed and engaged with its networks to ensure that best practices are shared for effective conflict prevention efforts.
