Gounden Participates in Foreign Affairs round table

The Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Vasu Gounden, was invited by the South African Department of Foreign Affairs to attend a roundtable discussion on the review of the first six months of South Africa’s membership of the United Nations Security Council, which was held on 3 August 2007 at The Union Buildings.

The meeting provided an opportunity for South African academics, researchers, civil society and the media to interact with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, on this important topic.

In 1996 ACCORD was recognized by the United Nations as a model for peace, and in 2005 Vasu Gounden was the first member of an African NGO to address the United Nations Security Council.
