NUPI director Jan Egeland visits ACCORD

On 3 November 2008 the Director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), a partner on ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Programme, visited ACCORD House. This was Mr. Egeland’s first visit to ACCORD. Mr. Egeland was in Durban to attend the International Advisory Board Meeting for the TfP programme.

Mr. Egeland is the former Under-Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) and is a special advisor to the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon. Mr. Egeland was active in Norway’s efforts to broker peace in the Middle East in the 1990s. He also headed the Norwegian Red Cross and coordinated UN relief efforts after the tsunami in December 2004.
