Dr Clara Carvalho is an Auxiliary Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL), with research interests in gender, development studies and West Africa. She was the Director of the Center of African Studies and the Center of International Studies at ISCTE-IUL, and the former President of the African-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies (AEGIS).
