José Pascal da Rocha

José Pascal da Rocha was the Coordinator for the Training Unit. The Training Unit provides guidance and leadership in capacity-building and training related activities. In addition to providing expert support and assistance to the design, development, implementation, and measurement of training curricula, as well as cross-cutting services for ACCORD programme units, the Training Unit contributes to the realisation of the Great Lakes Project, together with NPI-Africa and GPPAC. Furthermore, Pascal acts as programme manager and mentor of the International Training Programme on PASA, a consortium between ACCORD, DPCR at Uppsala University, and Indevelop. Together with and the guidance of ACCORD Trustee Professor Jairam Reddy, the Training Unit conducts a Leadership Initiative for South Africa.

Pascal had 18 years+ of mediation and negotiation experience in volatile and non-permissive crisis zones (in Africa, Middle- and Far East, Southeastern and Central Europe, Central Asia). He had worked for a variety of international organisations and corporate clients. His expertise is in Conflict Management Systems, Gender and Diversity, Management and Leadership, Cultural Awareness, Communication, and Extractive Industries. He had published scholarly articles on Gender and Diversity, Crisis Management, Leadership, and Conflict Management and he has written handbooks for NATO and the African Union.
