ACCORD and Bornito de Sousa Foundation Sign MoU

Partnership for Impact

On 14 July 2026 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Dr Vasu Gounden, hosted H.E. Dr Bornito de Sousa Baltazar Diogo, the former Vice President of the Republic of Angola, on his first visit to ACCORD House, Durban, South Africa. His Excellency was accompanied by Dr Samuel Pinocas Castro, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bornito de Sousa Foundation.

Established in 2024, the Bornito de Sousa Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental legal entity governed by private law, with legal personality and administrative and financial autonomy, social solidarity and altruism, with a view to contributing to the sustainable development of Angola.

The Foundation aims to support individuals, projects and communities in general, through socio-economic and philanthropic initiatives, involving national and foreign partners from the public and private sectors. It aims to be a meeting point for Academia, Civil Society, Business, NGOs and Public Institutions. Some of their projects include Education, youth and digital inclusion; local development and social inclusion; environmental sustainability; and citizenship, leadership and good governance.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Bornito de Sousa Foundation and ACCORD to learn more about each other’s work and to explore areas of mutual collaboration. To strengthen this collaboration, during the visit a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, for the two Institutions to work together on projects of mutual interest.
