ACCORD facilitates signing of Stability Agreement between KZN Premier, Richards Bay Minerals and local stakeholders to establish stability in the area

KZN Stability Agreement

A Stability Agreement has been agreed upon after a number of meetings with representatives of Rio Tinto.

On 28 August 2018 ACCORD facilitated the signing of a Stability Agreement between the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal (Premier Willies Mchunu, who is the Guarantor of the agreement on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government) with Richards Bay Minerals (RBM), a subsidiary of Rio Tinto in South Africa and signatories that included the Traditional leaders, the Municipal Mayors and Organised labour, in order to establish stability in the area to facilitate a new investment by RBM.
