On October 3, 2025, ACCORD welcomed a delegation of 11 students from the School of International Training (SIT), along with Dr Imraan Buccus, the Academic Director of the SIT Programme in South Africa. The SIT programme aims to prepare students as future interculturally competent leaders and responsible global citizens through various academic offerings.
During the visit, ACCORD staff from the Programmes and Research Units shared insights into the organisation’s work across the continent. Mr Sivuyile Sitole presented on Local and National Capacities for Peace, while Ms Katharine Bebington and Mr Boikanyo Nkwatle addressed ACCORD’s publications and the coalition governments in South Africa, respectively.
Students engaged in thoughtful discussions, raising questions such as the effectiveness of the current electoral system in South Africa and the successes of the Training of Trainers initiative. The longstanding partnership between ACCORD and SIT has provided numerous internship opportunities for SIT students, underscoring the mutually beneficial nature of their collaboration.
