Peacebuilding, dialogue, reconciliation and confidence building measures for Sudanese local authorities

During the course of February and March 2022, ACCORD and the IGAD MSU organised a series of capacity building workshops to train local authorities in Sudan on peacebuilding, dialogue, reconciliation and confidence building measures. These workshops took place in three different states in Sudan, the first in Nyala from 22 – 24 February 2022, the second in Kadugli, South Kordofan from 8 – 10 March 2022, and the third training was held in Ad – Damazin, Blue Nile from 24 – 26 March 2022. The participants included local administrators; police; academia; civil society Organisations (CSOs); students; and Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) officials that work within the thematic areas of Conflict Prevention, Conflict Management, and Mediation.  These workshops helped to strengthened the collaborative efforts of the IGAD MSU in their efforts to support the local authorities in Nyala, Kadugli and the Blue Nile states of Sudan, as the country undertakes peacebuilding processes. The key knowledge gained will prove instrumental as they meaningfully contribute and participate with the peacebuilding skills practiced.  ACCORD remains committed to supporting the IGAD MSU with the provision of technical and substantive support aimed at strengthening the abilities of local authorities to ensure efficient and effective participation in the peacebuilding processes in the region.
