The link between the problem statement, the project needs, the organizational needs and goals.

ACCORD held its first virtual thematic training session for women-led NGOs and CBOs in South Africa on the 7 April 2022. The training, under the auspices of ACCORD’s Capacity Strengthening Initiative, seeks to enhance the business development skills of local women peacebuilders in order for them to remain sustainable in practice.

Ms. Pravina Makan-Lakha, ACCORD’s Advisor on Women, Peace and Security, facilitated this training session. Ms. Makan-Lakha contextualized resource mobilization and highlighted the importance of the interplay between resource requirements, resource providers and strategies for resource mobilization.  The women were led into discussions that allowed them to view the link between the problem statement, the project needs, the organizational needs, whilst matching these to the organizations goals. This information provided the foundation for the initial writing of the project plan.

Participants learnt how to complete project application forms as well as how to reflect on past performance. In particular, the rules and instructions on application processes was highlighted.

ACCORD is committed to the training of women-led NGOs and CBOs in South Africa and will continue to strengthen communication and collaboration among participants. The next Thematic Session is expected to be held in May 2022.
