Two day workshop with all governors from the Central African Republic sixteen prefectures

Increasing CAR Governors’ capacity to support local implementation of the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation.

On 17-18 September 2020, the ACCORD Central African Republic (CAR) office conducted a two-day workshop at Oubangui Hotel with all Governors’ from CAR’s 16 prefectures. The objective of the workshop was to increase their capacities to support the local implementation of the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic (APPR RC).

The opening ceremony was presided over by Honourable Minister Yanga Nayahote, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, and the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee in charge of the implementation of the Peace Accord at National Level (CMON).

CAR Workshop

At provincial levels, the governors or prefects are the ones chairing the committees and they are in charge of the implementation of the Peace Accord in their respective zones. The workshop strengthened the capacities of all 16 Governor’s responsible for the implementation committees of the APPR RCA at local level in their respective provinces (CMOP), thereby further enhancing the implementation of the Peace Accord at the grass roots level to ensure sustainable peace and security in CAR. The Governors appreciated the quality of the workshop, with recommendations for more capacity building sessions in their respective provinces.
