Sibusisiwe is a Programme Officer within the Peacekeeping Unit. She completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences, Honours in Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in June 2014. She immediately joined ACCORD’s Training Unit as a valuable member of the team responsible for the development and delivery of capacity enhancement interventions. She was then appointed as a Programme Officer to support the General Manager in coordinating the work of the Operations Division. As part of her ongoing growth she has been recently appointed as a Programme Officer in the Peacekeeping Unit.
Her job role within the Peacekeeping Unit places her at the heart of conceptualising, materialising and evaluation of the various interventions undertaken within the unit. This exposes her to the process of conducting research, development of policy and advocacy as well as capacity building of various stakeholders. Her focus is on development of youth capacity and involvement in peace support operations and gender mainstreaming. The interactions of her job include interactions with various officials from: government, politics, youth formations, multilateral institutions, women’s networks and civil society structures.
As a full time student she was a mentor and Mentorship Team leader under the UKZN College of Humanities Academic and Monitoring Program. She has led in various Sports Executive Committees at campus level and at Intercampus level. She was also a member of Enactus UKZN where she held various positions, such as Project Manager, Campus President and General President. Her research interests are in the area of peacebuilding and youth development.
