On 9 June 2026, ACCORD participated in a high-level business dialogue under the theme Towards a Roadmap for AUC-PCRD and Private Sector Partnership: Unlocking African Private Sector Engagement and Business Opportunities. The African Union Centre for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (AUC-PCRD), the African Business Council (AfBC) and the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) hosted the high-level dialogue in Cairo, Egypt.
The private sector is an underutilised component of PCRD, as the private sector can help unlock business and employment opportunities in post-conflict states. The dialogue therefore convened to discuss a model for partnership between the private sector and the AU within the context of PCRD and way to enhance collective efforts towards stability and prosperity across the continent, while reinforcing the concept of African solutions to African problems.

ACCORD’s researcher, Ms. Katharine Bebington was a panellist in the session that explored the intersection of the AU and the private sector in communities’ abilities to recover from conflicts, while also highlighting the mutual benefits and opportunities available to both parties. In her presentation, Ms. Bebington, highlighted how meaningful private sector engagement can contribute to community recovery & long-term stability, while also creating shared value & opportunities for businesses across the continent.
ACCORD will continue to support the AU’s peace and security efforts, as it develops partnerships across the continent.
